Values

Scouting, at all ages, is carried out in 1st Ystrad Mynach based on some simple Values:

Cooperation: We make a positive difference; we cooperate with others and make friends.
We expect all of our Scouts to cooperate with each other, their parents and the Leaders in order to get the most out of Scouting.  We do not tolerate bullying or actions that exclude others.

Integrity: We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.
Our Scouts are expected to be honest and truthful at all times.  As Leaders we will be honest and act with integrity with our Scouts and parents.

Care: We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
A key part of Scouting is showing Care for each other, our community and our environment.  We expect Scouts to show this in their thoughts and actions.

Respect: We have self-respect and respect for others.
Scouting is open to all, no matter what their background, gender, religion, race or any other difference that they may have.  We expect out Scouts, Parents and Leaders to be tolerant and fully respect and appreciate the diversity shown in Scouting.

Belief: We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.
A key part of Scouting is personal development, not just physically but also internally.  Scouting is open to people of all religions as well as those of none.  We expect our Scouts to be tolerant of each other’s religions, be open and honest in discussions about beliefs and to continue to develop their own beliefs.

The Values of 1st Ystrad Mynach Scout Group are shared by Scouts across the world and are considered to be the fundamentals on which much of our programme and development are based.
